Gerald William Leek was born to Howard and Mary (Spencer) Leek November 10, 1933. People said he was born with a shift knob in one hand and a double clutching left foot - the kid was born to drive. He attended Spirit Lake Schools until his father passed away. Gerald joined the Air Force and worked on planes.
Somewhere during this time he met and fell in love with LaVonne Mosley. The two were married on October 22, 1954. With this union, Gerald not only became a husband but also a father to three, Ernastine "Teena" (Mert) Hennings of Worthington, Minnesota, Robert (Sherie) Leek of Bakersfield, California, and Jeffrey (LaVay) Mosley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Boy oh boy, talk about a shock on a young man, but he took on the task and soon he was blessed with a new daughter, Sherri (Dan) Wedeking of Spirit Lake, Iowa and later on had a son, William "Butch" Leek, of Newell, Iowa. Gerald was a hard working truck driving man having logged more than 2,000,000 miles. During his spare time, he was jack of all trades tinkering and working with wood or leather.
Gerald passed away March 1, 2014 at his residence at the age of 80.
Not only is Gerald survived by all of his children, he is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn Lenz of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Faye Steiner of Topeka, Kansas and also his brother, Laverne (Donna) Leek of Estherville, Iowa. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
