Geraldine Wiese

Geraldine (Deany) Marie Wiese was born June 3, 1921, in Jackson County, Minnesota, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Gombus) Vancura. She was educated in Hunter Township and graduated from Lakefield High School at age sixteen. She was united in marriage to Bernard Wiese on February 1, 1943, in Lakefield, Minnesota. The couple farmed in Sioux Valley for forty years. Geraldine was a 4-H leader and a member of Nurse's Auxiliary and Home Extension. For many years she played the organ at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minneota Township. They retired in 1982 and moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa. She became an active member of the Senior Citizens Center. Geraldine passed away Friday, October 31, 2008 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-seven years of age. Surviving are her two sons, James (Jan) Wiese, Lake Park, Iowa and Patrick (Barbara) Wiese, Loveland, Colorado; one daughter, Jan (Dale) Johnson, Litchfield, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Carole (Bill) Rost, Lakefield, Minnesota and Loretta (Maury) Oehler, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; an infant son; two brothers and one sister.
