Gilbert Gabby Hanson

A funeral service for Gilbert "Gabby" Hanson, age 75, of Fostoria, will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2:00pm at the United Methodist Church in Fostoria. Burial will be at Summit Township Cemetery in rural Fostoria. Visitation will be on Friday, November 7th after 3:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Gilbert "Gabby" Hanson was born December 13, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Henry and Ruth (Rogers) Hanson. Gabby was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Baines on June 28, 1964 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The couple made their home, first in Milford, and then in Fostoria. Gilbert worked in manufacturing and as a farm hand. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting and was known as the "catfish man." He also enjoyed working on his cars and his motorcycle trips to Montana. Gabby was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fostoria. He passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at seventy-five years of age. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; son, Brent Hanson; siblings, Ronald Hanson, Donna Fritz, Walter Hanson and his wife Pam, and Connie Sebastian; sister-in-law Rogene Hergenrider and her husband Randal; brother-in-law, Delmar Baines; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
