Following his 1938 high school graduation from Okoboji Township High School he continued farming, first west of Milford and later near Terril and then near Spirit Lake. On May 7, 1943 he was joined in marriage to Twylla Gregory of Lake Park, Iowa. To this 70-year union five children were born: Martha, Robert, Larry, Mark, and Mary. Together Glea and Twylla engaged in farming and raising purebred Guernsey cattle, first near Terrill, Iowa then on a farm east of Spirit Lake. The Mar-La-Bob Guernsey cattle and dairy farm were the source of much pride and a great deal of family involvement until 1969. Glea enjoyed showing the beautiful Guernsey cattle at Iowa fairs, including Clay County Fair for many years. Later he enjoyed renewing Clay County Fair friendships while holding security positions at the fair for five years. In 1969 Glea and Twylla discontinued farming and assumed new responsibilities with the Spirit Lake School System when they moved from the farm into Spirit Lake. Glea served as Head Custodian for nearly 20 years. Glea, with his wife Twylla, was recognized in 2012 with induction in the Education Hall of Achievement by the Spirit Lake School System. At his death, Glea was one of the oldest members of Dickinson County Farm Bureau, having served as County President and Board Member.
