Glen Wallace

December 13, 1926 — July 18, 2011

Glen Cecil Wallace was born December 13, 1926, at the Wallace Homestead in rural Milford, Iowa, the son of Claire and Mary (Moritz) Wallace. Glen was raised on the family farm in Milford and attended Lakeview Township Rural School and Milford High School. Glen entered the US Army in 1943 and served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. Glen received his Honorable Discharge in 1945. Glen was united in marriage to Shirley Arlene Reimers on June 29, 1952 in Worthington, Minnesota. They were blessed with two children, Jewel Ann and Craig Cecil. Glen continued to work on the family farm near Milford until 1957, when the couple rented a farm southeast of Ocheyedan. Glen later purchased the farm, where they made their home for fifty-five years, until moving into Ocheyedan this past March. Glen also worked at AMPI in the Sibley Location for twenty-three years, retiring in 1989. He continued to farm with his son, Criag, until his death in 2002. Glen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. He was also a member of the American Legion Wood Miller Post #0326 in Ocheyedan. Family, friends and neighbors were very important to Glen. He enjoyed visiting and having a cup of coffee around the kitchen table. His family was the only hobby he had, he enjoyed helping people and taking care of his family. He also enjoyed helping various friends after his retirement by working ground and helping with harvest. He was proud that he had began to farm with horses and had ended his farming career driving tractors with GPS steering systems. Glen passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 at his home in Ocheyedan at eighty-four years of age. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Jewel Garms (Mark) of Round Lake, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Nancy Travaille (Steve) of Melvin, Iowa; grandchildren, Lisa Lohmann (Alex) of Boulder City Nevada, B.J.
