Grace Johnson

A memorial gathering for Grace Johnson 71, of Milford will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Turner Jenness Funeral home in Milford. A private family committal will be held at a later time. Grace Suzanne Johnson, the daughter of Beatrice Lilamae (Graves) and Ernest Benes, was born on December 22, 1946 in Jackson, Minnesota. She was the oldest of 3 children. She passed away peacefully on April 25, 2018, at Prairie View Care Center in Sanborn, Iowa, at the young age of 71 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and a wonderful friend. She moved to Estherville with her family in 1954 and graduated from Estherville High School. Some of her earlier careers were working at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, IA, and Berkley's in Spirit Lake, IA. Later in life she was joined in marriage to Jeff on June 4, 1994, where they made their home in Milford, IA. Grace has 3 daughters, Monica, Brenda, and Tammy. She was also blessed with 9 grandchildren, Michael, Kyle, Jianna, Rylan, Noah, Jake, Rachel, Mack, and Lauren. Finding her passion, she began her long term career of 35 years as business owner and operator of Riverside Upholstery in Estherville, IA, where she served customers for many years before moving to Milford in 1994, and changing the name to Johnson Upholstery. She not only loved her work, but she also enjoyed meeting new people. She loved traveling, listening to music, camping, belonged to a bowling league with her husband for many years, and spending time with family and friends. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Jeff Johnson, three daughters: Monica Hoss Spoo of Estherville, Iowa; Brenda (Jeff) Clark of Frisco, Texas; Tammy (John) Klopstad of Milford, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Kyle Pytleski, Jianna Hoss, Rylan Hoss, Noah Hoss, Rachel Clark, Jacob Clark, Mack Klopstad, and Lauren Klopstad; sister: Colleen Enns. She was preceeded in death by her parents, one sister (Linda), and one grandson (Michael).
