Grace Triggs

Funeral services for Grace Triggs, 96, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Arnolds Park will be 11 am Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be at Fairfield Cemetery in Albert City, Iowa. Grace Alice Triggs, daughter of Maude (Holderness) and Ed Larson, was born July 1, 1917 in rural Clay County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Chester P. Triggs on June 14, 1939 at the First Christian Church in Spencer, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm near Webb, Iowa and in Cherokee for a short time before moving to Arnolds Park, Iowa in 1950. Grace was a devoted mother and housewife and also along with her husband, owned and operated Triggs Resort in Arnolds Park. She enjoyed knitting, visiting with resort guests, volunteering at church, word search puzzles and watching and feeding squirrels and birds. She was an avid follower of her kids' school and life activities and loved to cook for her family and friends. Grace was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business. Grace passed away November 2, 2013 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at ninety-six years of age. She is survived by her son, James C. Triggs and his wife, Denise; daughter, Marge A. May and her husband, Mike; grandchildren, Jami (Steve) Lebert, Michael (Ingrid) May, Jonathan Triggs, Lisa A. (Lucas) DeWitt, Wendi Triggs and Daniel (Kelly) May; great-grandchildren, Madison DeWitt, Jackson DeWitt, Riley DeWitt, Morgan May, Samuel May, Sarah May, Christopher Lebert, and Caden Lebert; sisters-in-law, Leone Larson and Nancy Triggs and numerous nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Chester P. Triggs; parents, Maude and Ed Larson; two children at birth and brother, Eldon "Bud" Larson.
