Harold M. Recher was born to Emil and Bertha Recher on August 23, 1925 near Harris, Iowa. He entered military service during World War II in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He received a bronze battle star in recognition of his service.
He was married to Joy Emerson and two daughters, Lois and Lola were born to this union. On December 13, 1958 he married Winona in Jackson, Minnesota.
Harold farmed near Harris in his early working life and then later moved to the Lakes area where he lived worked for the Department of Natural Resources.
He loved collecting eagles, collecting and selling antiques, going to auctions and spending time with Winona.
Mr. Recher died Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Milford Nursing Center at 82 years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Winona of 49 years, two daughters, Lois Jacobsen, of Hartley, Iowa, and Lola Recher of Arnolds Park, Iowa; stepdaughter, Nancy Backer of Casey, Wyoming, two grandchildren, one step grandchild, three great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and one sister, Helen Roelofsen of Lake Park.
Harold was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, George and Glen Recher, two sister, Ella Meyer and Hulda Groff and three grandsons, Shawn and Shane Jacobsen, and Michael Recher.
