Funeral services for Harvey Larson, age 84, of Milford, will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 4 pm, Tuesday, December 6, 2016 with the family present from 4-7 pm, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Interment will be at Milford Cemetery in Milford.
Harvey Dean Larson, the son of Genevieve Bertha (Klipping) and Ralph George Larson, was born May 26, 1932 on a farm west of Forest City, Iowa. At an early age, they moved to a farm west of Goodell Iowa where he graduated from Goodell High in 1951.
On February 15, 1953, Harvey was married to Ernestine Ramona Lindeman in Albert Lea, Minnesota. To this union, five children were born, Bradley, Craig, Heidi, Jeffrey and Darla. In March, 1953, Harvey enlisted with the United Sates Army and in August, he was shipped to Korea for seventeen months. After being honorably discharged in 1955, he returned home to Milford, Iowa where his wife was teaching school. They joined First Lutheran Church in the spring of 1955, where they have remained members.
Harvey worked at the Standard Station in Milford, H & N body shop in Spencer and worked at Coast to Coast (now True Value) in Milford for thirty-two years. His other jobs included Goerge's Body Shop, Jenson Resorts, mowed lawns and for fourteen years worked at the Laser Car Wash in Milford. Harvey also worked at the Clay County Fair for thirty-one years.
Harvey loved to fish, put together jigsaw puzzles and garden, especially raising roses. He enjoyed sharing what he grew with others. He was very talented in woodworking, painting, being a repairman and was always willing to help others.
Harvey passed away December 3, 2016 at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford, Iowa at eighty-four years of age.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of sixty-three years, Ernestine Larson of Milford; children, Bradley (Marsha) of Sioux Center, Heidi (Mike) Koopmeiners of Maplewood, Minnesota, Jeff (Terri) of Milford, Iowa and Darla (Randy) Thunstrom of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Sally; grandchildren, Mark, Bethany, Angie, Chad, John, Jerry, Nick and Brittany; step-grandchildren, Jacque and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren.
Harvey was preceded in death by his son, Craig; grandson, David; and his parents and in-laws.
