A funeral service for Harvey McClain of Harris, Iowa will take place Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park, Iowa. Interment will follow at Union Township Cemetery at Harris, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2015 with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park, Iowa. Harvey John McClain, the son of Lucille (Carlson) and Herbert McClain, was born February 4, 1938 in rural Ocheyedan. After Harvey graduated from Harris High School in 1957, he enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged in 1963. He moved to the home farm in 1966. On November 23, 1973, Harvey was united in marriage to Marsha Jacobs in Lake Park, Iowa. They raised their family on the home farm where Harvey spent many years farming. Harvey loved anything to do with tractors. He enjoyed tractor pulls, tractor rides and collecting toy tractors. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, playing cards, watching black squirrels and loved his time at morning coffee at the Harris Coffee Shop. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren, whether it was watching football games or walking to Caseys. Harvey passed away August 20, 2015 as a result of a farming accident near Harris, Iowa at seventy-seven years of age. He is survived by his wife, Marsha; children, Susan (Greg) Schock of Sheldon, Iowa; Sandy (Jeff) Tait of Estherville, Iowa and Sindy (Nick) Kafka of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Michelle and Zachary Tait and Madison, Emma and Parker Kafka; sister, Joyce Stark; brother, Dick (Loretta) McClain and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lucille McClain.
