After working on the family farm, he moved to Iowa, where he met Arlene Langfeldt. They were united in marriage on October 20, 1960. They lived a majority of their life in Estherville, IA.
Harvey worked for White Farms. When he wasn't busy farming, he enjoyed time with his family. He was very involved in helping his children with their livestock for 4H and teaching them all about showmanship.
In 2002, Harvey and Arlene moved to Milford, IA, with their daughter Joleen and her family. There he helped take care of two of his granddaughters, Lindsay and Jadyn. Once again, he was very involved with their 4H livestock and taught them the great skills he had taught his own children. On their acreage, Harvey took care of horses, goats and pigs. He kept busy tinkering with various projects, including making his own horse cart. He also enjoyed a large garden every summer.
Harvey is survived by his wife Arlene and their four children.
