Services for Hazel Barth, 90, of Spencer will be Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Langdon United Methodist Church, Langdon, Iowa. A visitation will be Monday, March 9, 2015 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford beginning at 4:00 PM with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM. Hazel Marie (Robinson) Barth was born on October 25, 1924 in Richland Township in Dickinson County, Iowa the daughter of Kenneth and Mildred (Van Winkle) Robinson. She graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1942. Hazel was united in marriage to Richard Leroy Barth on April 30, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska. Hazel lived in this area all her life except for two years in Omaha. Hazel was a homemaker and a Shepherdess most of her life. She enjoyed helping her husband and grandchildren with their flock of Suffolk. Many trips were made to the barn at all hours; which included many bottle lambs and nursing many sheep back to good health and a long life. She was very involved in her daughters' (grandchildren and great-grandchildren) activities through the years being a 4H leader, vacation Bible teacher, and Brownie leader. Hazel was a very good cook; her fried chicken was to die for along with butterscotch pie, almond flavored white cake, chocolate and oatmeal cookies. She was a cleaner….using a toothbrush. She said she enjoyed cleaning because she could always see her progress. Hazel was always ready to go….especially if it had to do with the grandchildren or great-grandchildren. She loved to visit Sue in Illinois to see Sue's pets and watch her wildlife from the window with a good cup of coffee and in her spare time she loved to do crafts. Hazel passed away on March 3, 2015 at the Longhouse Nursing Center in Spencer, Iowa at the age of 90. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters; Jane Zelinsky of Spencer and Susan Barth of Lewistown, Illinois; three cherished grandchildren and their spouses: Robert (Christy) Zelinsky of Brookings, South Dakota, Suzanne (James) Clayton of Frisco, Texas, and Ryan (Jennifer) Zelinsky of Boise, Idaho; her precious great-grandchildren, Riggen, Rhett, Raesa, Drew, Lydia, Tallon, Brysen, Emma and Austin; two darling great-great grandchildren Kyler and Lyncon and other family members. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, sister, Lillian, and brother, Forrest.
