Helen Minnie Roelofsen, was born December 12, 1918 in Osceola County, near Harris, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Bertha Recher. She was raised near May City, Iowa, where she attended Allison Township #7 School.
Helen was united in marriage to Neal Roelofsen on December 12, 1941. The couple made their home on a farm south of Harris. Helen had many talents which included gardening, canning produce, sewing clothing and quilts, and raising flowers. Helen enjoyed teaching these skills to her children and grandchildren.
Helen passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa at ninety-four years of age. She had made her home at the Care Center since 2008.
Left to survive are her daughters, Louise (Jim) Petersen of Lake Park, Lola Recher of Arnolds Park, Linda (Randy) Veldboom of New London; grandchildren, Joy (Jeremy) Rasche of lake park, Jennifer Veldboom of Mt. Pleasant, Ryan (Mollie) Veldboom of Emetsburg, Austin Veldboom of Des Moines. Also surviving are step-grandchildren, James (Kathy) Petersen of Lake Park and Angie (Neil ) Watje of Lake Park; great-grandchildren Jack, Ava, Annaka, Dalton, Kaylin, Elly, Dylan, Emma, Tyler and Mylee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal, grandson Michael Recher and siblings, Elmer, Hulda, George, Ella, Glen and Harold.
