Services for Howard Wilson, 94, of Milford will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Union Memorial Church in Milford. Visitation will begin at the Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford on Monday, April 23, 2018 after 4:00 p.m. with the family present at the funeral home Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at the Milford Cemetery with military rites by the Milford American Legion Post 384.
Howard P. Wilson, the son of Pearl (Nelson) and Wade Wilson, was born February 24, 1924 in Milford, Iowa. He attended the Milford Consolidated School. In 1944, Howard enlisted in the United States Army and served two years in the Philippines and Korea before receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.
On Feb. 5, 1947, Howard was united in marriage to Elaine Stolp in Worthington, Minnesota. Two sons were born to this union. On May 20, 1989, Howard was married to Joyce Salmon Halstead in Milford, Iowa. Howard farmed for thirty-five years and later worked for Stylcraft for fourteen years.
Howard was a past member of the Excelsior Methodist Church and later became a member of the Union Memorial Church in Milford. He enjoyed playing games, dancing, woodworking, gardening and fishing. His greatest joy came from his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Howard passed away April 20, 2018 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at ninety-four years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Wilson; two sons, Darwin Wilson (Sandi) and Duane Wilson (LuCinda); step-daughter, Sharon Reinert (Phil); step-son, Fred Halstead (Kylee); two grandsons and two granddaughters; three step-grandsons and one step-granddaughter; eight great-grandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters; sister, Dorothy Davis and brother, Earl Wilson.
Howard was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine, brothers, Robert Wilson, Richard (Dick) Wilson and Jim Wilson; a sister, Arlene Stovin; one step-daughter, Janet Halstead.
