Irma Leona Gano was born to Charles and Mable Booth south of Marcus, Iowa on March 20, 1914 and baptized in the Methodist Church at Quimby, IA. She attended country school thru the eighth grade in Tilden Twp and then attended high school at Grand Meadow, where she graduated in 1931. She then attended junior college at Cherokee where she obtained her teaching certificate.
Irma married Marvin Edwin Gano November 14, 1932 at Elk Point, SD. They farmed near Quimby, IA before purchasing and moving to a farm near Milford in 1952. In 1983 they moved to Milford. Marvin passed away on May 24, 1994.
Irma always had a big garden, did a lot of canning and raised chickens. She also cleaned cottages at Okoboji. Her family was her foremost interest. She enjoyed crocheting and reading in her pastime.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Florke and Sharon Edwards; five sons, Laverne and his wife, Vera, Rick, Terry and his wife, Joann, Kenneth and his wife, Maureen, and Rocky and his wife, Gwen; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, infant son, Gary, three brothers and three sisters.
