James Edwin Campbell was born May 22, 1923 to John N. Campbell and Meta A. (Leitzke) Campbell in Persia, Iowa. In 1942, James enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharge on January 24, 1946.
On November 13, 1947, James was united in marriage to Lois Elaine Campbell in Council Bluffs,
Iowa. They lived in Council Bluffs and Omaha, Nebraska before moving to the Spirit Lake and Superior area in 1966. He enjoyed bowling, golf, boating and water skiing. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and old tractors.
James passed away July 29, 2012 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-nine years of age.
He is survived by his daughter, Judith (Robert) Keist; son, Mark Campbell; grandchildren, Shannon, Alyx and Alyson; great-grandchildren, Terry and Jared.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois in 1996; sister, Nina Thrasher; brothers, Glen, John, Leo and Max Campbell.
