A graveside service for James M. Moore, 74, will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Milford Cemetery in Milford, Iowa. Military rites will be conducted by the Milford American Legion.
James Myron Moore was born on December 31, 1949, to parents Myron and Norma Jean (Knudson) Moore. He graduated from Riceville High School in Riceville, Iowa. In 1970 he was united in marriage to Diane Thome and together they had two children, Rebecca and Jason. They divorced in 1985. Jim worked as a technician at Cornbelt Power.
Jim later married Linda Stevens. He was a truck driver, and he often took Linda and their dog on trips over the road with him. He shared a life with Linda until her death on November 9, 2012.
Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974, where he was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Michigan. He was deployed to Okinawa, Japan for six months during this time.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.
Jim became a resident of Cobble Creek Assisted Living in Spencer, Iowa in 2022. Jim died there on November 9, 2024, exactly 12 years after his wife Linda’s death.
Jim is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Brian) Peterson, son Jason (Vanessa) Moore, and grandsons Izak Peterson and Alex Moore. Survivors also include his sister Kris (Roger) Gray, sister-in-law Diana Stevens-Stone, friend and caregiver Nancy Ketcham, many friends and neighbors who loved and watched over him, and his extended “family” at Cobble Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents Myron and Norma Moore and his wife Linda Moore.
