A funeral service for Jan V. Wiese, 74, of Lake Park, will be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. A visitation will be on Sunday, December 3rd from 2:00-4:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Jan Wiese was born June 18, 1949, the second of three children, in Spirit Lake, Iowa and daughter of Glen E and V Lorraine (Woodrum) Bush. Jan was raised and educated near Lake Park, Iowa, graduating from Sioux Valley High School in 1968.
Jan was united in marriage to James J Wiese on July 22, 1967, in Lakefield, Minnesota. Serving as Best Man for the ceremonies was Pat Wiese, and the Maid of Honor was Lorren Bush.
The couple made their home in Lake Park, where they raised their children, Jill, Justin and Jordan. In November of 1997, Jan & Jim moved to her childhood acreage east of Lake Park. In her free time, Jan found joy in reading, gardening, shopping, decorating her home and cherished moments spent with her family.
Jan passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at Lakes Regional Healthcare at seventy-four years of age after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim Wiese, Lake Park, IA; their children Jill and Kurt Vanderhoef, Iowa City, IA, Justin Wiese, Waukee, IA and Jordan and AJ Wiese, Minneapolis, MN. Their grandchildren include Cyan Vanderhoef, Alia Vanderhoef, River Vanderhoef, Parker Wiese, Spencer Wiese, Cooper Wiese and Jaxson Wiese. Also left to cherish her memory is her brother-in-law Don Smith, brother and sister-in-law, Shane and Bette Bush, in-laws Pat and Barb Wiese and Jan and Dale Johnson, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Lorraine; sister, Lorren “Rennie” Smith; nephew, Ryan Bush.
