Janet Baschke

A Memorial Service for Janet Baschke, age 84, of Milford will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 10:30am at the Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00-10:30am at the funeral home in Milford. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Milford.

Janet Baschke was born on January 10th, 1940, in Woodbine, IA to LaRue and Albert Schumacher.

She grew up on a farm west of Milford, she attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church and School. Janet was united in marriage to Don Baschke for nearly 30 years. They made their home at business corner by May City, IA and then Milford, IA while raising their 7 children. 

Janet loved bird watching, she loved to talk politics but most of all she loved her two little dogs JoJo and Macie, those two were her babies. Janet was known for her gift of gab and her spunkiness. 

Janet made it a point to call her kids and grandkids every day and sometimes several times throughout the night and day. She just wanted to check in and see what our day was like and tell us about her day!

Throughout her life Janet worked the family ran business Baschke Produce then at the Spencer Packing Plant then at Milford Nursing Home and Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer. 

Janet passed away at Accura Healthcare in Milford on November 17, 2024. 

Left to cherish her memory are her 7 children: Mike (Laura) Baschke of Hartley, Margie (Brad) Sauter of Milford, Marsha Poutre of Spencer, Mark (Connie) Baschke of Fostoria, Michelle (Todd) Kuhlman of Milford, Mitch (Missy) Baschke of Spirit Lake, and Marshall (Hailey) Baschke of Spirit Lake. As well as her 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene (Ray) Gustafson of Spirit Lake and April Kinkade (Curt G.); sister-in-law, Kay Schumacher of Indianola; and many nieces and nephews. 

Welcoming her home are her parents, grandson Colton Baschke, granddaughter, Sara Baschke, brothers Duane and Harlan Schumacher, and sister Dee Kelsey.
