Jean Rusch

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jean Rusch, 72, of Lake Park, Iowa will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Heron Lake, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 5 pm, Friday, January 19, 2018, with the family present from 5 - 7 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. There will be Parish Scripture Service beginning at 5 pm at the funeral home. Jean Marie Rusch, the daughter of Herman John Golda and Alberta Henrietta Schneider, was born March 26, 1945 in Heron Lake, Minnesota. After graduating from high school, Jean received her Bachelors degree in elementary education from Mankato State University in 1967. On November 25, 1967, Jean was united in marriage to Larry Edward Rusch in Heron Lake. They lived in Worthington, Minnesota before moving to Lake Park, Iowa in 1971. Jean taught in the public schools until her retirement in 2016. Jean was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, Lake Park Historical Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, canning, having tea with friends and sitting outside with neighbors on summer nights. She especially enjoyed spoiling her granddaughter, Amelia. On January 17, 2018, Jean passed away at the Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at seventy-two years of age. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Larry Rusch of Lake Park; daughter, Lisa Rusch (Kevin LaVoy) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; daughter, Kari Rusch-Curl (Ryan Curl) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; granddaughter, Amelia Jean; brother, James Golda of Heron Lake, Minnesota; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many wonderful nieces and nephews and very dear friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Golda.
