A funeral service for Jennie Vos, age 86, of Arnolds Park, will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial will be at Memory Gardens in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 31st after 4:00pm with the family present from 4:00-6:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
Jennie Ellen Vos, 86, was reunited with the Lord on July 29, 2016. Jennie was born on July 29, 1930 in Akeley, Minnesota to Tilda (Tollefson) and John Jesperson. She was one of 10 siblings. Jennie grew up and attended school in Akeley where she graduated in 1948.
She met Nick Vos, the love of her life, while in high school and the couple married on January 31, 1949. The young couple lived in Walker, MN and later lived in Milbank, SD and Huron SD. They moved to Brainerd, MN in 1951 where Jennie painted photographs and they gave birth to their daughter Vicki.
In 1954 they moved to Arnolds Park where son Gary and daughter Diane were born. Jennie painted photographs for DeSpains and later was the bookkeeper for Nick's plumbing business, Vos Plumbing and Heating. She and Nick spent 29 winters in Mission, Texas. Jennie enjoyed painting, teaching water aerobics, cooking, playing Sudoku, and spending time with family and friends.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park where she sang in the choir and also served as treasurer. Jennie will be remembered for her kind & generous heart, her artistic painting, her sense of humor and her never ending friendship.
She is survived by her husband Nick Vos, daughter Vicki (Les) Milverstedt of Hastings, MN; son Gary (Marilyn) Vos of Arnolds Park, IA; daughter Diane (Jeff) Haedt of Savage, MN; grandchildren Nick Sullivan, John Sullivan, Joe Gamble, Ryan Haedt, Anna Vos and Travis Haedt; great grandchildren Taylor Sullivan, Skylor Sullivan, Chandlyr Sullivan, Parker Sullivan, Sierra Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan, Megan Sullivan and Maddie Gamble; sister-in-laws Nori Pool, Sharon Jesperson and Ardy Vos; many nieces and nephews; and special friend Peggy (Dan) Williams of Boone, IA.
Jennie is preceded in death by her parents and siblings- Jimmy, Ivar, Carrie, Selma, Agnes, Johnny, Leonard, Elmer, and Nellie.
