Jerry Joe Carpenter was born September 14, 1941 in Spencer, Iowa, the son of J. Russell and Loucille Carpenter. He attended Spencer schools and graduated from Milford High School. The family moved to the Milford area in 1959.
On September 17, 1961, Jerry was united in marriage to Jean Forbes in Jackson, Minnesota. Jerry worked as a general contractor and was the owner of Carpenter Construction for forty-two years. Jerry retired at the age of sixty-six years of age. He enjoyed his winters in Texas and summers at the lake cottage.
He was a member of the Union Memorial Church in Milford. He enjoyed street rods, spending time with his grandchildren and having coffee with his friends.
Jerry passed away January 3, 2011 at Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at sixty-nine years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Douglas Carpenter of Milford and Duane Carpenter (Cathy) of Slater, Iowa; grandchildren, Shanae and Shane; sister, Janice (Greg) Malmstrom of Webster City. Iowa, Julie (Harold) Pike of Ames, Iowa; brother, Ronald Carpenter of Omaha, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
