A funeral service for JoAnn Adams, age 83, of Spirit Lake, will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 1:30PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Visitation will be on Monday, April 11th after 4:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery.
JoAnn was born JoAnn Lea Daub on January 17, 1933, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
JoAnn and three siblings were raised by Joseph and Mabel Daub in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She then married Walter Robert Adams on February 24, 1954, where they resided in Sioux City, Iowa, and began raising nine children. In August of 1968 they moved to Milford, Iowa, following Walter's job with Farm Service Transport. JoAnn was an avid bowler for many years, loved to fish, and enjoyed feeding the passing ducks mini pecan pies, and until her passing enjoyed making things out of yarn and canvas for everyone. She also worked away from home at the American Legion, The New Inn, Dickinson County Home, The Back Porch and most especially enjoyed working at the Milford Nursing Center as a cook. JoAnn, along with her husband, Walter, raised their nine children together until Walter's passing on February 7, 2001. Subsequently JoAnn moved to an apartment in Spirit Lake, Iowa, where she enjoyed making treats for their monthly luncheon, playing cards and bingo with her many friends.
JoAnn passed away April 7, 2016 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at eighty-three years of age.
JoAnn is survived by her eight children: Dennis Adams, Rodney Adams and his wife Pam, Debra Moore and her friend Virgil Bowers, Elliot Adams and his wife Sarah, Stacey Adams, Tina Adams, Karen LaCour and her husband Brent, and Terry Adams, who collectively gave her the blessing of 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a soon to be great-great-grandchild; her siblings, Joseph (Sonny) Daub, Frank Daub, several nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Walter Robert Adams, son Mark Allen Adams, parents Joseph Lawrence and Elizabeth Mabel (Headley) Daub, and sister Florence Mae 'Fluff' Gray.
