Joanne Brevik

Funeral services for Joanne Brevik, 79, of Spirit Lake will be 10:30 am Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Milford Care Center of Lakes Regional Healthcare Hospice. Visitation will begin at 3 pm, Monday, July 7, 2014 with the family present from 5-7 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Joanne Margaret Brevik was born July 31, 1934, the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Rutherford) Horne, near Park Rapids, Minnesota. She attended Thompson Community School in Thompson, North Dakota. Joanne was united in marriage to Marvin Brevik on June 17, 1950 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The couple made their home in Spirit Lake before moving to Texas for several years. They returned to Spirit Lake where they worked and retired. Joanne was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She enjoyed cooking and loved time spent with her family. She enjoyed the special times spent with Alan and Jean Brevik of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Joanne passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at Milford Nursing Center in Milford at seventy-nine years of age. She is survived by her sons, Richard Brevik and his wife, Jackie of Milford, Robert Brevik and his wife, Vicki of Arnolds Park, and Roger Brevik and his wife, Carol of Spirit Lake; siblings, Sharry Caskey of Milford and Gary Horne of Milford. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kristin Clark, Kara Brevik, Skylar Larson (John), Shane Brevik (Kathleen) Shoni Brevik, Shilo Brevik, Dawn Van Maanen (Matt), Jeremy Brevik (Lisa), Tracy Hinz (Jesse) and Brian Wulf (Nicole); twenty great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, parents, Margaret and Harry Horne, and sister, Darlene.
