John Berg

A funeral service for John Berg, age 92, of Milford, will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Milford. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 24th after 4:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Parish Center in Milford. There will be a Rosary at 7:00pm. John Joseph Berg was born May 16, 1924 to Joseph and Margaretha Berg in Milford. John grew up in Milford loving farming and farm animals. He joined the Army in 1942 and served until 1946. John then returned to his family home to continue farming. He married Hazel Feldhacker in 1964 and together they continued farming the family farm. John enjoyed working at the Clay County Fair for forty-five years. John passed away Friday May 20, 2016 at the Hawkeye Care Center in Milford at ninety-two years of age. He was preceded in death by wife Hazel, brother Charles and sisters Edith Long, Agnes Vierow, Josephine Berg and Ethel Berg. John is survived by eight step-children, James (Alene) of Waterloo, NE; Larry (Terry) of Elkhorn, NE; Ronald of Omaha, NE; Dennis (Virginia) of Springfield, NE; Jean (Donald) of Lincoln, NE; Joyce of Sioux Falls, SD; Patricia (Ronald) of Yutan, NE and Greg (Mary) of Milford, IA; twenty-one step-grandchildren and twenty-nine step-great grandchildren; brothers Art Berg and James Berg and sisters Kathryn Putensen and Cecilia Jansen; and nieces and nephews.
