Joyce Lorraine Fear was born August 6, 1933 in Hanford, California, the daughter of Manual and Olivia (George) Silva. She was raised and educated in Hanford.
Joyce was united in marriage to Donald Fear on March 12, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple made their home in San Diego, California, Denver, Colorado and Everly, Iowa before moving to Wahpeton in 1994. They owned several businesses and operated the Branding Iron at the Clay County Fair and managed Meadow Brook Country Club in Hartley.
Joyce was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. She loved interior decorating, which many of her children's homes show.
Joyce passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at eighty years of age.
She is survived by her husband, Don Fear; children Steve (Cindy) Tennant, Jean (Grover Rieser) Tennant, David (Linda) Tennant, Donna (Delbert) Struve and Kristi (Steve) Wilson. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Holly Tennant, Dave Tennant, John Tennant, Shaun Iske, Paul Iske, Toni Simon, Matthew Tennant, Brett Struve, Britney Struve, Jordan Struve, Nathan Haberman, Jake Wilson, Zach Wilson and Ben Wilson; fifteen great grandchildren, other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
