Joyce A. Lockwood, the daughter of Opal Sigrid Mae (Swanson) and Edward Louis Ducommun, was born November 21, 1923 in Marcus, Iowa. She was a graduate of Cleghorn High School in 1941, and was a graduate of the National Business Institute in Sioux City, Iowa. She worked at Cherokee State Bank until her first child was born.
Joyce was united in marriage to LeRoy "Butch" Lockwood on July 21, 1945 at her parent's farm in Marcus, Iowa. They had two daughters and a son. She devoted her life to being a homemaker, raising her children and being a farmer's wife. Butch and Joyce lived and farmed for 40 years in Cleghorn, Iowa on the farm where Joyce was born.
Some of Joyce's interests and leisure activities included, camping, square dancing, playing the organ, fishing, reading, and playing cards. She was a very active member in the various churches they attended over the years. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and their various pets. She also enjoyed being a "Snowbird" and spent a combined 40 years going to Texas and Arizona in the winters. She was a board member of the Cleghorn State Bank for many years.
Joyce will be cherished in the hearts of her husband LeRoy "Butch" Lockwood of Spirit Lake; her children, Jolyne Ghanatabadi and her husband Amir of Phoenix, AZ, Jane Kruger and her husband Larry of Rochester, MN, Mark Lockwood and his wife Kim of Sioux City, IA, her brother Wayne (Jerri) Ducommun of Sioux City, IA; her grandchildren Erica (Clint) Harrison, Matthew Lockwood, Jeff (Jenny) Kruger, Rebecca (Brent) Wathke, Katherine Kruger, and great grandchildren Madelyn, Marcus, and Mason Harrison.
Preceding Joyce in death were her parents Edward and Opal Ducommun and her brother Galen Ducommun (survived by his wife Pat Ducommun of Marcus.)
