Juanita Carlson

There will be a funeral service for Juanita Carlson, 95, of Spirit Lake on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Turner Jenness Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Lost Grove Cemetery in Gowrie, Iowa. A visitation with family present will take place one hour prior to the service at Turner Jenness Funeral Home Chapel., Juanita Delores Carlson was born on March 30, 1922 in Gowrie, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Mildred Magnusson. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to J. Richard Carlson on June 25, 1941 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Their marriage spanned seventy years. Juanita has lived in Lanyon, Cedar Rapids, and Arnolds Park, Iowa. She was a great homemaker and outstanding cook. She enjoyed sitting by the water and fishing in Okoboji. She loved her family. In later years she loved to sing, especially during her years at the nursing home. She was a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Juanita passed away at Hawkeye Healthcare in Spirit Lake on July 26, 2017 at ninety-five years of age. Survivors include her children, Sandra Anderson, Susan (Terry) Johnson, Sharon (David) Nagl, David (Cheryl) Carlson, and Stacie Wiley (Tom). She has nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Juanita was preceded into death by her husband, J.Richard Carlson; her daughter, Cynthia Knudson; her parents, sister Betty, brothers Harris and Floyd; son-in-law Gerald, and great-granddaughter Carlie Deilke.
