Funeral services for Judy Pyle, 66, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Paullina, will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin 3 pm, Monday, December 21, 2015 with the family present from 5 - 7 pm, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Judy's name Judy Ann Pyle was born February 7, 1949 in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Delmar and Arvilla (Mealman) Ewoldt. She lived on a farm near Sutherland, Iowa, until the third grade, when the family moved to Rembrandt, graduating from Rembrandt High School. Judy then attended Northwestern College in Orange City, receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Judy was married to James Pyle in 1972 until 1981. She made her home in Paullina, where she raised her sons, Scott and Mark. Judy worked as a social worker at the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, Iowa for twenty-nine years. Upon retirement, she moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa, where she worked part-time at Arnolds Park Amusement Park.
Judy was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She enjoyed gardening, boating and fishing. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, traveling, and especially loved to spoil her grandchildren.
Judy passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at sixty-six years of age.
She is survived by her sons, Scott Pyle and his wife, Stacy, of Milford and Mark Pyle and his wife, Jamie, of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler (Scott and Stacy), and Lynden and Laney (Mark and Jamie). She is also survived by her brothers, Larry Ewoldt of Norwich, CT, Roger Ewoldt and his wife, Mary Ann, of Hospers, Iowa and Kenneth Ewoldt of Fostoria, Iowa; nephews, nieces and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
