A service for Karla Noble, 58, of Ocheyedan, will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji, Iowa. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday and continue until service time at the church.
Karla Kay Noble was born on December 29, 1959 to Roger and Bonnie Wilson (Stolte) in Worthington, Minnesota. She grew up in the Ocheyedan area with her two sisters, Rhonda and Dianna, and graduated from Ocheyedan High School in 1978. She attended the Spencer School of Business and worked in the Iowa Great Lakes for the next 30 years, making many treasured friends along the way.
On April 7, 1979, she married Doug Noble, and together they made their home in Arnolds Park, where they raised two children, Stacey and Brandon.
After spending her life in Northwest Iowa, Karla moved to Williamsburg, Iowa in 2011 and began working at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Shortly thereafter, she received her diagnosis of cancer.
After two years of living in Williamsburg, Karla made the decision to return to Ocheyedan, where she became the town librarian. She enjoyed creating opportunities for the local children to enjoy the library, as well as the ability to contribute to her home community.
Karla made it her mission to live her life, despite her diagnosis, and she began doing so immediately. One of the things she loved to do was travel. She and her children made a habit of exploring Midwest destinations, with more than a few trips out to the Black Hills. When she wasn't traveling, she enjoyed reading, working in her yard, finding odds and ends at thrift shops that she could turn into projects and home décor, and spoiling her cat, Huckleberry.
Left to cherish the memories are her children, Stacey Noble of North Liberty, Iowa and Brandon Noble of West Des Moines, Iowa. Her sisters, Rhonda Howard and Dianna (Jeff) Dirks, both of Ocheyedan, and many other relatives and friends.
