Kay Monson

A funeral service for Kay Monson, age 76, of Spirit Lake, will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 24th from 4:00-6:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Kay Lorraine Monson, the daughter of Inez Beatrice (Osterson) and Eugene Loraine Fox, was born March 8, 1940 in Jefferson, Iowa. Kay was raised and graduated high school in Paton, Iowa. On September 1, 1963, Kay was united in marriage to Donald Lyle Monson in Paton, Iowa. The couple made their home in Des Moines, Iowa and Schaumburg, Illinois before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 2004. Kay was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Kay passed away February 21, 2017 at her home in Spirit Lake at seventy-six years of age. She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Monson; daughter, Lynne (Monson) Andrews and granddaughter, Ariadnae Andrews; brother, Darwin (Monika) Fox and two sisters, Lanice (Craig) Goettsch and Lanette (Robert) Bultema; beloved nieces, nephews and numerous other family and friends. Kay was preceded in death by her son, Scott D. Monson; her parents and two infant brothers.
