Kenneth Ray Dingel was born on June 20, 1918 to Henry and Clara (Protextor) Dingel in Sanborn, Iowa. He went to school there and graduated from Sanborn High School. He married Alyce Mae Maranell on August 10, 1939 at Sheldon, Iowa. Kenneth was a hired hand for twelve years in the Sibley area until in 1945 when he rented a farm in Ocheyedan and purchased his first farm in Terril in 1954.
Kenneth was a member of the Terril United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Masons, DEK Rural Electric Board, Boy's 4-H Leader and managed Little League. Kenneth also pitched softball, enjoyed fishing, woodworking, cards, square dancing and golf. He also played his guitar, yodeled, and enjoyed shooting pool. He was very active in church and served as lay leader. He spent 32 winters in McAllen, Texas, and moved to Homestead from the farm in 1999.
Kenneth passed away quietly on August 25, 2011 at the Milford Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alyce, four children: Diane (Orlin) Trojahn, David (Linda) Dingel, Douglas (Teri) Dingel and Deborah (Tom) Johnson; brothers Henry from Cosgrove, California and Donald (Pat) of Lake Park, Iowa; sister Evelyn Roberts of California. Kenneth has ten grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara Dingel, sisters Helen, Vivian and Clara and one grandson Thomas.
