A funeral service for Larry Ray, age 75, of Spencer, Iowa, will be held Friday, February 20, 2015 at 1:30pm at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery. Larry passed away February 15, 2015 at the Milford Nursing Center. Larry D. Ray was born July 4, 1939 in Anita, Iowa, to Dell and Adair (Walker) Ray. He graduated from Anita High School and attended Tarkio College. Larry married Charlotte King and they resided in Anita, Iowa, raising their family to an early age before moving to Atlantic Iowa. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa once his family was grown and gone. Later he moved to Spencer, Iowa to help his son, Dan, and resided there for the past eighteen years. Early in their marriage, he was a milkman in Anita, Iowa and a volunteer fireman driving the ambulance. He raised his children in Atlantic, Iowa while working at American Buildings Company. Later he was a salesman for veterinary supplies in Southwest Iowa. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Anita, Iowa and Elks Club in Atlantic, Iowa. Most recently Larry helped his son, Dan in his auto dealership as service advisor where he retired and spent the last years with family and friends. Larry enjoyed John Wayne movies, was a classic car lover, watched Nascar and enjoyed fishing with his friends. Above all else, he enjoyed being with his kids. Larry passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford, Iowa at seventy-five years of age. He is survived by his sons, Brett (Shan) Ray and Dana (Laurie) Ray; daughters, Robin Ray and Joy (Keith) Grandgeorge; grandchildren, Regan Ray, Griffin Ray, Kaitlyn Green, Kolton Ray, Jordan Grandgeorge, Chelsea Grandgeorge and one great-grandchild, Hudson Green. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Adair and Dell Ray, and his wife, Charlotte.
