Lavone B. Fick was born on April 1, 1919 in Schleswig, IA, the daughter of Herman and Marie Rusch. She graduated from Mapleton High School in Mapleton, IA in 1935.
On February 26, 1939 Lavone was united in marriage to Lenhardt Fick. During the course of her life, she was a farmers wife and later worked as a bookkeeper from 1959-1964 at Chesterman Bottling Company in Sioux City, IA. In 1964 they moved from Sioux City to Estherville, IA where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Hardware store until they retired in 1975. The couple then moved to Spirit Lake, IA in 1977.
Lavone attended the Union Memorial Church in Milford, Iowa and was a member of the Womens Fellowship. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Bible School and being a youth group advisor. She also enjoyed golfing, dancing, fishing, oil painting and writing both prose and poetry.
Lavone passed away on Friday, September 28, 2007 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eighty-eight years of age.
She is survived by her two sons, Arlan Fick and his wife, Leilani; Gary Fick and his wife, Peggy; four grandchildren, Adrian Fick, Leina Zimmerman, Cynthia Fick and Dan Fick; seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Brandon and Cameron Fick, Melia, Leilani and Kamaile Zimmerman and Zander Fick, one sister, Darlene Clausen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lenhardt.
