Leona Siemers

A funeral service for Leona Siemers, age 98, of Lake Park, formerly of Harris, will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 2:00pm at Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, November 9th after 3:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. Leona Emma Siemers was born on May 7, 1917 to Henry and Emma (Eserhaut) Garloff in Big Rock, Iowa. Leona had nine siblings: John, Herman, Ervin, Arnold, Harry, Norma, Evelyn, Wilma and August. When Leona was 12 years old she moved with her family to the Harris and Lake Park area. In 1935 she graduated from the Lake Park High School. During the war effort Leona worked at an aircraft plant in California. On February 1, 1945 Leona was united in marriage to Hans Henry Siemers in Texas. To this union they had one son Keith Hans Siemers in 1955. Leona was a homemaker and in later years worked at Sathers in Round Lake, Minnesota and resorts in the lakes area. Leona was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park, Iowa. Leona passed away November 5, 2015 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at ninety-eight years of age. Leona is survived by her son Keith (Judy) Siemers of Lake Park, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kevin Siemers of Lake Park, Iowa, Brian Siemers of Lake Park, Iowa, Stephanie (Mike) Birmingham of Des Moines, Iowa and Rylan Siemers of Lake Park, Iowa; two great grandchildren, Dylan Siemers of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Emmet Birmingham of Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters. Mrs. Siemers passed away November 5, 2015 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.
