A memorial service for LeRoy Koep, age 89, of Milford, will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Interment will be at Little Sioux Lutheran Cemetery in rural Milford.
LeRoy Arlen Koep passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Correctionville Specialty Care in Correctionville, Iowa. He was born on March 24, 1935, to Edwin and Mathilda (Koele) Koep at Spencer Hospital.
After graduating from Milford High School in 1953, LeRoy worked on a farm until he enlisted in the United States Army in January 1957. He served honorably for three years, returning to civilian life to work at the Fostoria Elevator until 1963. That year, he began a long career at Berkley's, where he devoted 32.5 years before retiring on May 24, 1996.
LeRoy was a man of many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed walking his dogs, tending to his yard, and spending time fishing and hunting. His commitment to his community was evident in his active involvement with several organizations. He was the charter president of the NW Iowa 2 Cylinder Club and served as both director and president for 15 years of the Dickinson County Museum. A proud member of the Milford American Legion and Spirit Lake VFW, LeRoy also dedicated 17 years as a director for Dickinson County Pheasants Forever.
LeRoy is survived by his sister, Judy (Don) Brinkley of Milford, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dick.
