LeRoy Arthur Rasmussen

A funeral service for LeRoy Rasmussen, age 90, of Spirit Lake, will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 1:30pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at South Walnut Cemetery in Graettinger. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shriner's Children Hospital. LeRoy Arthur Rasmussen, the son of Arthur and Christine (Hansen) Rasmussen, was born September 26, 1925 at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa. LeRoy served in the United States Army during WW II in the 810th Military Police Company in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was married to Betty Lou Reuter of Humboldt, South Dakota, on August 3, 1955 in Graettinger, Iowa. Clark Arthur Rasmussen was born to this union on December 8, 1959. LeRoy and Betty farmed in rural Palo Alto County, Iowa and operated a tax accounting service in Fairmont, Minnesota. LeRoy and Betty were members of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger, Iowa. LeRoy was a past master of the Highland Masonic Lodge #487 in Ruthven, Iowa, a 32nd degree Masonic member of the Scottish Rites Consistory in Sioux City, Iowa and also a member of the Abbu Becker Shrine Club in Sioux City. LeRoy passed away April 5, 2016 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at ninety years of age. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty. LeRoy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Leslie Rasmussen of Delafield, Wisconsin; grandsons, Eric and Kyle Rasmussen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and his sister, Shirley Rasmussen of Spirit Lake, Iowa.
