Lincoln Guthrie

A Celebration of Life service for Lincoln Guthrie will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford, Iowa at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by Milford American Legion Post 384. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family, Lincoln Leland Guthrie was born August 4, 1925 in Milford, Iowa to Arthur T. and Valda (Christopherson) Guthrie. Lincoln was a lifelong resident of Milford. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War where his job was mechanic in his platoon. His passion for vehicles did not end after his discharge from service. Lincoln ran a salvage yard, wrecker service and radiator repair shop at his residence for many years. Prior to that, he worked at the packing plant in Spencer, Iowa as well as farming in rural Milford. He also worked at a radiator repair shop in Spirit Lake, StyleCraft in Milford and Boji Bay Water Park in Milford before retiring. Lincoln enjoyed participating in the Clay County Fair Enduro races with family and friends, as well as gardening and fishing. Lincoln enjoyed time spent with family and friends the most. Lincoln passed away peacefully Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford, Iowa at the age of 88. Surviving Lincoln are his five daughters: Florence (Jim) Doner of Tucson, AZ; Valerie Guthrie of Manhattan, NY; Terry (Tim) Pope of Milford, Gina (Steve) Patton of Milford and Jacqui (Wally) Montano of Albuquerque, NM. Granchildren Boyd, Kate, Jim and Maureen; Anthony, Andre, Dominic and Monett; Wesley, Chasidy, Myranda, Erin, Kenny and Derek; Danielle, Joshua and Nikki; several great grandchildren; brother, Milton of Milford, Iowa; sister, Marcella of Anthon, Iowa; many nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. Lincoln was preceded in death by his parents, wives (Betty, Joanne, and Donna) great granddaughter Jade Poss Tischer, eleven brothers and sisters.
