Lois Crane

April 16, 1932 — February 21, 2021

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lois Crane, 88, of Milford will be 10:30 a.m. Friday. February 26, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford.  Visitation will be Thursday, February 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.  The visitation for Lois  on Thursday will begin with a rosary at 5:00 p.m.  The family requests you wear a mask.

Memorials in honor of Lois can be given to the Humane Society, Milford Library or St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Lois Ann Crane, the daughter of William and Helen (Erdman) Schwaller, was born April 16, 1932, in Spencer, Iowa. She was raised on a farm outside of Milford. She attended country school, then St. Joseph Catholic School through the 10th grade and graduated from Milford High School. After graduation she went to work at the Spencer Hospital and during that time she met her future husband, Tom Crane.

On October 28, 1957, Lois and Tom were married in Milford, Iowa. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved hosting birthday parties and Christmas parties for her family and friends. She loved children and also enjoyed traveling with Tom.

She enjoyed volunteering for charities, baking for various groups and individuals, reading for herself and for others, especially those at the nursing home. Lois was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Milford American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters, Humane Society and Friends of Milford Library.

Lois passed away February 21, 2021 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-eight years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Crane; son, Keith Crane and his wife, Tina and their children, Kaleb and Chloe; daughter, Sue Shoup and her son, Linden and his wife, Amanda; daughter, Eileen Crane-Thorn and her husband, Todd Thorn; son, Tom Crane and partner, Trina Rudy; sister-in-law, Elaine Schwaller; and her cat, Jack.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Schwaller; brothers, Don (Delores) Schwaller and Ray Schwaller; son-in-law, John Shoup.
