A funeral service for Lois Sporrer, 83, of Milford, Iowa will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford, Iowa. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Milford, Iowa. A visitation will be held at St. Joseph Parish Center in Milford Wednesday, May 14, 2014 after 5:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. There will be a Catholic Daughters Rosary service at 6:30 PM followed by a Parish vigil at 7:00 PM. Lois Ann Sporrer, daughter of Elmer and Hattie (Eaton) Meyer was born February 10, 1931 in Ruthven, Iowa. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and graduated from Milford High School in 1949. She graduated from American Institute of Business in Des Moines. Lois was a full-time mother and homemaker, and in later years was employed as the Activity Director at the Milford Care Center. Lois was married to Earl Sporrer on May 20, 1952 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. They made their home on their farm southeast of Milford, retiring from the farm in 2008. Lois was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, helping with field work on the farm (she had her own Case tractor), and visiting with many friends and neighbors who were always welcomed into her kitchen with a cup of coffee. Lois passed away May 11, 2014 at the Milford Care Center in Milford, Iowa at eighty-three years of age. Lois is survived by her husband of 61 years, Earl, her children, Pam (Greg) Kaiser of Milford, Iowa, Sandra (Terry) Pedersen of Mitchellville, Iowa, Jo Ann (Mark) Sawin of Sioux City, Iowa, and Rick (Chris) Sporrer of Nevada, Iowa, ten grandchildren; Natasha (Kent) Timmerman of Cherokee, Iowa, Jason (Ellie) Kaiser of Ankeny, Iowa, Megan (Seth) Skalicky of Everly, Iowa, Kerri (Dave) Bishop of Bondurant, Iowa, Kody Pedersen of Mitchellville, Iowa, Katie and Nick Sawin of Sioux City, Iowa, Danielle, Clara, and Erica Sporrer of Nevada, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Cole, Trey and Allysa Timmerman of Cherokee, Iowa, Addison Kaiser of Ankeny, Devon Skalicky of Everly, Iowa, and Jackson Bishop of Bondurant, Iowa.. She is also survived by brothers, Joe Meyer of Texas and Gene Meyer of California; and sisters, Betty Farmer of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Veronica Miller of Colorado, Pat Wilber and Carol Allen of California, and many nieces nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Hattie, sisters Aileen Huelsbeck, Mary Hemphill, Vivian Reiman, and Jeri White, and a granddaughter, Kylee Rae Pedersen.
