A funeral service for Lorene Hoffman will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Union Memorial Church in Milford, Iowa. Interment will be at Okoboji Cemetery in Arnolds Park.
Lorene Joy Hoffman was born on December 10, 1933 to Lloyd and Ina (Miller) Place at Milford, Iowa. She was raised on a farm south of Horseshoe Bend, graduating from Okoboji Township Consolidated School in 1951.
She was united in marriage to Andrew Martin Hoffman on November 26, 1953. The couple made their home on a farm south of Lake Park, where they raised their children, Chris Andrew and Robin Carol.
Lorene worked alongside Andrew in their farm and dairy operation. When Andrew died in September of 1984, she continued working with her son, Chris, until November, 2000.
Lorene was a member of Union Memorial Church in Milford, Iowa. She enjoyed the farm life and liked to garden, quilt and play cards with friends. Additionally, Lorene spent a lot of time and energy for Robin, who is mentally handicapped, through guardianship and support.
Lorene passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eighty years of age.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lester Place, sister, Marylee Taylor and brother-in-law, Glenn Taylor.
Left to survive are her children Chris Hoffman of Lake Park, and Robin Hoffman of Hull, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Joan Langel (Earl) of Milford, and Viola Place of Correctionville, Iowa; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
