Lorene Faye Sawyer was born December 7, 1925 in Dickinson County to Clarence Owen (C.O.) and Ella Belle (Robinson) Schultz. She graduated from Superior High School in 1943. After graduation Lorene worked for a time in Washington D.C..
Lorene married Carroll Don Sawyer on January 29, 1944 in Jackson, Minnesota. She enjoyed being a homemaker and farm wife. She lived her entire life in Dickinson County except for a brief time in 1943. They moved to Spirit Lake in 1988. Throughout the years, Lorene worked at Berkley's and at Wal-Mart.
Lorene was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Lakes Garden Club, White Shrine and Eastern Star. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading and in her younger years, bowling.
She passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at Hilltop Care Center at eighty-seven years of age.
Survivors include her husband, Don; children, Connie (Ronny) Hartwig, Kelvin (Judy) Sawyer and Donita (Larry) Sawyer; sister, Le Anna Boers; grandchildren, Rodney (Autumn) Hartwig, Rick (Phylis) Hartwig, Robert Hartwig, Tara (Luke) Langner, Laura Sawyer, Ryan Sawyer, Steven Sawyer, Jessica (Angus) Adams, Nathan (Valerie) Adams; fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her infant child, Loretta; her parents; brother, Wayne and stepmother, Bertha Schultz.
