A funeral service for Lou Preston, age 86, of Lake Park, will be held Tuesday, December 10th at 1:30pm at Indian Lake Baptist Church in Worthington, MN. Burial will be at Indian Lake Baptist Cemetery.
Lucia "Lou" Joan Preston, the daughter of Ralph and Artemisa (Del Pardo) Durando, was born May 17, 1933 in Inglewood, California. She attended Inglewood High School.
On October 6, 1950, Lou was married to Norman James Preston in Inglewood. She was a stay at home mom until she began working as a nurse's aide in the 1970's and 80's. Lou and Norman lived in various places including Encino, California, Truckee, California, Flagstaff, Arizona, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Stevensville, Montana and Lynchburg, Virginia before moving to Lake Park, Iowa in 2011.
After moving to Lake Park, they became members of the Indian Lake Baptist Church in Worthington. Lou loved to sing, paint (a talent that she inherited from her grandfather, Victor Durando) and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She loved to play scrabble using "Nancy's Rules" and enjoyed crocheting gifts for family.
Lou passed away December 7, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-six years of age.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Preston; son, David Preston and his wife, Julie; daughter-in-law, Erma Christensen and her husband, Dennis; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Tracey Preston, Tyler and Nataly Preston, Courtney and Steven Warrington, Angela and Tim Fisher and Andy Preston; four great-grandchildren, Peyton Fisher, Kailer Warrington, Reese Fisher and Carter Warrington; many nieces, nephews and other family.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Artemisa Durando; son, Steven Preston; daughter, Nancy Ayers; brother, Robert Durando and son-in-law, Doug Ayers.
