Lucile Hazel Clausen was born on January 14, 1918 in Montgomery, Iowa to the proud parents of Louis and Agnes Clausen who farmed in and around Lake Park for years. Lucile attended Diamond Lake #4 for the 1st thru 8th grades, then attended Lake Park for one year before attending Excelsior for three years and graduated in 1935.
While attending Excelsior High School she met Art Fischer and they married on December 7, 1938 at Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1988.
Lucile and Art spent their entire lives in the Lake Park/Sioux Valley area, where they raised their sons on the farm. They were active members of Trinity Lutheran Church. They were also active in the Sioux Valley Community and Sioux Valley School, where they volunteered their time on various boards and programs. Lucile loved spending time with her family, and will be greatly missed by them.
Lucile passed away January 3, 2010 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at ninety-one years of age.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Art in 1990; their oldest son, Larry in 1992 and two great grandchildren in infancy.
Art and Lucile had three sons, Larry (Janet) deceased, Gordon (Leyla) who farm in the area and Wayne (Iris) now living in Naperville, Illinois. Along with raising their three sons, there are eight grandchildren, Scott, Elizabeth, Velinda, Valerie, Dorie, Dodie, Victoria and Waylon and nineteen great-grandchildren.
