Lura Elizabeth Williamson Cable was born May 19, 1925 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Glen Williamson and Amy Elizabeth McIntyre Williamson. Lura enjoyed her childhood days in Spirit Lake and graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1943. Lura resided one mile north and ¾ mile east of Fostoria on the Cable Family Farm.
After a life-changing event, Lura moved into the town of Milford in 1969. There she started a new life style, meeting the hardship of a single mother with the help of a growing number of new life-long friends. Lura's employment included the Milford Café, Plagman Upholstery and in home day care until joining McQuay's of Spirit Lake. She retired in 1987.
She enjoyed reading, knitting family members afghans, Twins baseball, Hawkeye basketball and visiting during family holidays. She enjoyed having coffee with the ladies on Saturday mornings, church circle, visiting and playing cards at dinner date and enjoyed having her friends drop in for a visit.
Lura passed away June 18, 2013 at the Milford Nursing Center in Milford, Iowa at eighty-eight years of age.
She is survived by her sister, Thelma June Williamson Kleasth of Seattle, Washington; sister-in-law, Irene Williamson of Spirit Lake; son, Donald E Cable (Connie) of Milford; daughters, Sheri Cable Arends (Tom) of Milford and Amy Cable Anderson (Rich) of rural Milford; grandchildren, Lori Cable Shiernbeck (Troy), Melvin Cable, Leah Cable Howard, Brian Cable (special friend, Kelly Hansen) and Jorrie Arends Brandhagen (Matt); great-grandchildren, Colton Josie and Lindsey Howard, Aveary Cable, Ethen Richard, Trey and Tya Brandhagen; eight nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Lura also enjoyed the grand puppies, Scruffie Cable and Annie & Billie Arends.
