Marilyn Pitman

A memorial service for Marilyn Pitman, age 83, of Arnolds Park, will be held Saturday, October 17th at 10:30am at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery. Marilyn Jean (Sander) Pitman was born to Lillian (Schuman) and Hugo Sander in Manning, Iowa on December 24, 1931. Marilyn grew up in the Okoboji area. She graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1950. Marilyn had perfect attendance throughout her twelve years of education. After she was married to Wes Pitman, they moved to California and remained there for many years before moving back to the Lakes Area. Marilyn worked as a housekeeper and nanny for many families in the lakes region. Ashley and Maggie Pflueger were two very special children that Marilyn cared for. She also went to many sporting events that her nieces and nephews participated in. Marilyn was an avid Minnesota Twins and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Marilyn passed away October 9, 2015 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-three years of age. She is survived by her siblings, Don (Colleen) Sander of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Ron (Pat) Sander of Humboldt, Iowa, Rosemary Saxon of Worthington, Minnesota and Marvelyn (John) Willison of Milford, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wes; mother, Lillian; parents, Hugo and Florence Sander; niece Joy Walz; brothers-in-law, Dale Glover and Richard Saxon.
