Marilyn Sorensen

Marilyn Sue (Lowry) Sorensen, 79, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the home of Eric & Anita Sorensen in Spirit Lake, IA. Marilyn was born June 20, 1939, to Ted & Viva I (McCool) Lowry in rural Harris, Iowa, where she attended and graduated high school. She married Verland Fred Sorensen June 5, 1958, and resided in Spirit Lake. To their union were born four children. Marilyn did Berkley homework while raising her children and later worked at First Federal Savings and Loan in Spirit Lake then as a Human Resources Officer for Northwest Bank in Spencer, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Robert (Bob) Lowry & Ted Lowry Jr., sisters Patricia Meyerdirk & Betty Dillehay and granddaughter Amanda Sorensen. She is survived by her children Jeff & Leslie Sorensen of Spirit Lake, Mike Sorensen of Jackson, MN, Eric & Anita Sorensen of Spirit Lake and Elizabeth (Betty Jo) & Bryan Gilmore of Laurel Hill, FL., grandchildren Kristin & Heather, Lance, John, Katie & Bethany, Logan Sorensen and Nathan Kilgore, sister Jackie Albers and brothers Jim & Jerry Lowry. To honor her wishes, there will be no funeral services.
