Funeral services for Mark Noordhoek, 89, of Spirit Lake, will be 11 am, Monday, April 11, 2016, at United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the Church. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park.
Mark Noordhoek was born November 9, 1926, in O'Brien County, Iowa, the son of Leendert and Tracy (DeJager) Noordhoek. The family farmed near Sheldon, Matlock, Archer and Hartley, before moving northwest of Spirit Lake to the farm which they purchased in 1940.
Mark was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. In his younger days, he was involved in many church activities. Mark was a farmer, and enjoyed fishing, and repairing cars and tractors. He was especially close with his family and was always available to help his siblings. He especially enjoyed driving to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota, with his brother Bill.
Mark passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake at eighty-nine years of age.
He is survived by his sister, Alice Crosby; niece, Elizabeth Schreiner; nephew, Alan Crosby; great nieces, Stephanie Oris and Jazzmine Schreiner as well a great-great niece, Alice M. Oris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leendert and Tracy Noordhoek and siblings, Bill and Gertrude Noordhoek.
