A funeral service for Marlyn Van Tol, age 59, of Lake Park, will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at CrossWinds Church in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, December 22nd after 4:00 PM with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM at CrossWinds Church in Spirit Lake. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Marlyn Dale Van Tol, the son of Lee and Susie Van Tol, was born September 13, 1958 in Sheldon, Iowa. Marlyn attended Sanborn Christian School before graduating high school at Western Christian.
On August 22, 1980, he was married to Judy Watts and they were blessed with three children, Stephanie, Justin and Rebecca. After their divorce, Marlyn was married to Sherry Keiner on March 3, 2012 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Marlyn lived most of his life in the Sanborn area until moving to Lake Park, Iowa in 2011. He was a member of the CrossWinds Church in Spirit Lake.
Marlyn loved to joke around and loved to talk to everyone. He enjoyed trucking for Vander Haag's Inc., fishing, playing cards and board games, dancing and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed being outside on the farm and taking care of his animals. He was known for his caring spirit and big heart.
Marlyn passed away December 20, 2017 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at fifty-nine years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry and her daughters, Kylee and Kiera of Lake Park; his daughter, Steph Bittner (Jordan) and their children, Kailyn, Kylie and Korbyn of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; his son, Justin Van Tol (Karla) and their sons, Jaden and Dallas of Sanborn, Iowa; his daughter, Rebecca Miller (Ken) and their daughters, Natalee and Lilee of Primghar, Iowa; parents, Lee and Susie Van Tol of Sanborn, Iowa; in-laws, Bob and Rita Reimers of Lake Park, Iowa; sisters, Judy (Mike) Visser of Sanborn, Iowa and Jackie (Don) VanderZee of South Holland, Illinois; brother, Dave (Stacy) Van Tol of Tea, South Dakota; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
