Marvin Hamilton was born November 4, 1921 in Montgomery, Iowa, the son of E.J. (Ned) Hamilton and Hannah (Anderson) Hamilton. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1939. After graduation he worked for Berkley and Co. in Spirit Lake. In 1943, he started Hamilton's Radio Shop which his son, Steve, took over in 1984.
Marvin's childhood home was on a farm at Egralharve,which is now located on West Lake Okoboji. He spent three years in Cedar Rapids working in a defense plant during WWII.
He was united in marriage to Fern Jensen in 1942, Audrey (Jackson) Munday in 1972 and Josephine (Bauer) Wittrock in 1983. Marvin was resident of Dickinson County most of his life and lived his retirement in Milford, Iowa.
Marvin enjoyed fishing, repairing antique radios and traveling. He was not a joiner, he was at his best as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Marvin passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eighty nine years of age.
He was survived by his wife, Josephine; daughter, Kristine M. and her husband, Owen Bettin, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; son, Steven E. and his wife, Carla (Pflibsen); son, Kris Alan of Hermosillo, Mexico; granddaughter, Amber M. Woelfel and her husband, Jeff, of Arnolds Park, Iowa; sister, Marilyn A. and her husband, Harold Sietsema; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Fern and Audrey.
